Kia ora,
Titahi Bay Intermediate opened in 1970 and has been serving the community for over 50 years and we are proud of the role we play in the development of the students who spend their intermediate years with us.
Our specialty is catering for not only the educational needs, but also the social and emotional needs of students in the 10-13 year age group. This is the time in their lives where students begin to become more independent, build new friendships and think more critically about a wider range of ideas and issues. This is a time of transition for students and we focus on improving their confidence to take ownership of their learning as they evolve into young adults.
Titahi Bay Intermediate values a balanced curriculum to help our students strengthen their sense of identity and mana. We promote and empower our students to become confident and active learners with a sense of belonging and pride. Students are nurtured in an inclusive environment, allowing them to become leaders and active contributors in their community.
Our staff are passionate about teaching this age group and preparing them for life at college, and beyond. We can do this with specialist teachers and specialised teaching spaces.
Our semi-specialised programme is enhanced by extracurricular activities offered throughout the year. Opportunities are offered to as many students who may be interested and students are encouraged to engage with a variety of new experiences.
As a small intermediate we are able to have closer working relationships with students and whanau across the school. The following pages will give you some information about the structure, values and expectations of our school, but it is only a taste of what we can offer. If you would like further information please contact the office on (04) 236 8588
